I approach my client work as a collaborative process that we will undertake together, with you being the expert in your own life. I offer a non-judgemental space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours at your own pace. The therapeutic relationship can be extremely healing as it provides support to explore that which you may feel unable to elsewhere. From personal experience, my belief is that being heard and accepted can help to deal with a range of emotional problems.
I am an 'Integrative' counsellor which simply means I am trained in and draw upon a range of approaches to counselling and our work is tailored to suit your individual needs. If you should decide that we may work well together then our work will reflect on your unique experiences. This may include looking at:
thinking and behaviour patterns
managing difficult feelings
early developmental experiences that continue to influence you now
ways of relating with others and yourself
traumatic experiences
Having worked for a mental health charity, I have a broad range of experience, including but not limited to: trauma, abuse, relationship problems, infidelity, suicidal ideation, sexuality, anxiety, depression, existential questions, sexual issues, self-esteem, loneliness, addiction, neurodiversity, loss, bereavement, bullying, work difficulties and family issues.
I am compassionate and committed to ensuring my practice is an inclusive and respectful space for all; regardless of sexuality, gender identity, race, religion, age, body size or ability.
